Consultative Approach
At the F. Danielson Group we are passionate about providing our clients with the highest level of wealth planning services through the creation of a trusting, long-term relationship.

Our commitment to your financial success and well-being is reflected in our unique consultative approach and client-centered process.

To ensure we are consistently adding value to our clients' overall financial plan we have developed our personal CFO process that continually aligns our ongoing advice and recommendations with your unique financial situation.

Our Consultative Approach:

Discovery Meeting - discovery leads to clarity
The main objective of the Discovery Meeting is to learn more about your financial objectives, personal values, and key financial concerns. During our meeting we will also review your key financial information to help us learn more about your overall financial situation. Towards the end of our meeting we will share our core values, who we are, how the financial services industry works, and how we receive compensation. Together, we will also determine if there is a mutual fit and if we can add value.

We believe that prior to making any major life or financial decisions, it is important to first understand your financial personality, since human behaviour impacts every aspect of building your successful financial plan so we will also walk through our Financial DNA process.

As part of our value guarantee, we follow up our Discovery Meeting, within 24 hours, with a Discovery Summary letter. This letter will provide you with a succinct, accurate account of our meeting, including:

  • What you are looking for in an advisory relationship
  • Concise summary of your personal and financial goals
  • Clear snapshot of your net worth, cash flow and expenses
  • An estimate of our first year planning fees should you decide to engage our services
  • A list of action items for you to complete prior to our next meeting
  • A high level overview of our next meeting

Plan Review - clarifying your financial road map
The main objective of our Plan Review phase is to confirm your financial objectives, then compare those objectives to your probability of achieving them. Most important, this meeting clearly reflects, in a written plan, your aspirations and creates the road map for achieving your goals.

We will also review your current investment portfolios, overall asset mix, unique risk preferences, and share our investment philosophy.

If we both feel there is value in formalizing the advisory relationship, we will complete our letter of engagement and start preparing your prioritized action plan.

Portfolio Design - your portfolio road map and implementation
The main objective of our Portfolio Design phase is to review your unique investment objectives, liquidity needs, growth expectations, tolerance for risk, income requirements, investment time horizon, anticipated changes in lifestyle, tax considerations, and economic variables such as, inflation and market volatility.

These objectives will be reflected in your own Investment Policy Statement (IPS), which provides an account of your investment objectives and describes the strategies that we will employ to meet them. Your IPS also contains detailed information unique to your financial circumstances and is based upon a full review of your unique risk profile.

Your customized portfolio is designed to achieve multiple objectives:

  • Maximize return for risk taken
  • Reduce risk through global and asset class diversification, using multiple investment managers
  • Enhance risk-adjusted returns through systematic re-balancing
  • Utilize appropriate tax planning strategies to minimize overall family tax liability on investments

Wealth Optimization - where implementation leads to results
The main objective of the Wealth Optimization phase is to focus on wealth planning opportunities that will have the largest impact on your achieving your most important financial goals.

Using our Diagnostic Checklist (which covers nearly 100 tax, estate, corporate, and risk management opportunities), we ensure you are optimizing and protecting your overall wealth plan.

Once the Checklist is complete, together we'll prioritize the results, then create an action plan that assigns realistic time lines for completion.

By this stage of the planning cycle, the most demanding part of our process is behind us. We now take your plan and, quite simply, put it into action. We also work closely with your existing team of professionals or bring in specialists, as needed, to give you the best possible solutions to achieve your goals.

Financial planning is not a "one time only" event
As your life evolves, so will your financial plan and investment portfolio. That is why we hold semi-annual meetings and conduct conference calls throughout the year to learn about the changes going on in your lives, monitor investment performance, and keep your overall wealth plan on track.
